I watched Cinta! Hooray! As a person with a lot of time in her hands, I read movie reviews and I know critics are raving about this movie. How different, how poignant. However, I also know to not take them seriously. But now, seriously, this movie is good, and if I am asked by you guys and girls if you should watch it.... WATCH IT! Kuala Lumpur has never been so vibrant and colourful onscreen. With 5 different but somehow interrelated stories, there will be at least one to whet your appetite. My favourite couple is Pierre Andre and Sharifah Amani. I love how Pierre Andre can express so much with his eyes yet say so little. He has come a long way since Gol dan Gincu The Movie, although his recent TV series Dunia Baru ain't half bad. Meanwhile Sharifah Amani comes a little flat. That might have something to do with 5 different storylines not allowing too much room for character development. Oh yes, the story set on the background of Kampung Abdullah Hukum tickled me everytime into recalling how I and five friends passed through the kampung to go to Midvalley Megamall and save a few bucks on cab. I am never doing that again ever. A close second is Fatimah Abu Bakar and Dato' Rahim Razali. How can you not like this couple. My favourite character is the buskerer at Central Market. I looked forward to those scenes. Be prepared with at least a piece of tissue. Well, I didn't have one, but I had a hard time choking on my own tears. My least favourite couple is Eizlan Yusof and Fasha Sandha. Eizlan Yusof owns a magazine company and is 'the most eligible bachelor' as selected by a magazine (I wondered if the magazine is his as well..). Fasha Sandha is a lowly bookstore cashier. Their conflict arose when Eizlan couldn't bring himself to acknowledge Fasha publicly as his girlfriend. Boo-hoo. Get over it, woman. That said, Eizlan Yusof is not as 'kayu' as he usually is. Meanwhile Fasha is not her cloyingly sweet self. So that's a nice change. The movie itself has quotable quotes and gems of wisdom. My favourite is goes along the lines of this: Sehari kita bersama dengan orang yang kita sayang lebih baik daripada seumur hidup kita bersama dengan orang yang tak kita sayang. That came out from Fatimah Abu Bakar. I'm going to watch out for the soundtrack. BTW I watched this movie with Miss Makeup Lover. A very short while after the movie, we both had one incident equivalent to Cinta each. Conclusion: This movie is a must-see, and this movie is jinxed! |
